It took 17 years to make this book. Another book designed for intensive reading, we selected Dolly, a legible yet compellingly detailed typeface designed by Akiem Helmling, Bas Jacobs and Sami Kortemäki at Underware in 2001. This supports a reading environment well, especially when set on a comfortable uncoated sheet. The centerpiece of the book is a collection of the various buildings that compose the canon of modern architecture which the conferences held at Columbia University sought to define. These pages are printed on a bright glossy stock in very high contrast. The book’s fabric cover is meant to evoke the grey flannel suits worn by the conference attendees.
