Lina Bo Bardi’s design is a meant to be an analog to Bo Bardi’s work: simultaneously functional and vibrant—materially considered, but rough too. The two main areas of concentration for the design were with the navigational system, the red tabs and type, that parallel Bo Bardi’s use of the color red in her buildings—as a sort of counterpoint. The binding and trimming method of the book exposes its construction, something Bo Bardi showed in her material choices and consistent detailing of certain architectural systems. In this way we hope to lightly and abstractly refer to Bo Bardi’s work, translating her architectural sensibility into another form.
