Harvard Graduate School of Design Events Series
Each year Harvard’s Graduate School of Design commissions a design office to develop a range of formatted items (posters at multiple sizes, pamphlets, event warm-up graphics) to publicize their program both within the school but also with peer institutions. We join some good company, Irma Boom, Bruce Mau Design, Norm, Lars Müller and many others.
Our work on this series is based on a small agitation of two color plates—their slight offsetting generates a subtle oscillation and instability to a nominal grid. Each event occupies a position within a two direction gradient of color, one cell might 70 percent florescent pink and its overlay might be 30 percent ultramarine.
The main poster shows the entire array of events, but each day-of poster only shows the combination of ink densities of its particular cell. In this way the day-of events show a very slow gradient over the course of the series. The event warm-up graphics show some our work in time-based media, which we are particularly interested in developing.
